Description:

Brittany has a warm temperate climate in both summer and winter.  Due to the Gulf stream the region is generally warmer and milder than in the south of England.

Finistere, in the west of Brittany tends to be the coolest in summer, while the coast of Morbihan in the south is the warmest as it benefits from a sunny microclimate. 

With at least 7 hours of sunshine a day in summer, Brittany is said to have around 2000 hours of sunshine per year.

The region is known for rain, however, this is not justified with the average rainfall much less than in England.

The west coast of Brittany, around Brest, being the wettest and the east, around Rennes, being the driest.

As the region is exposed to the Atlantic airstream Brittany can be windy, especially on the coast, which is great for sailing and watersport enthusiasts. Many of France's most famous yachtsmen, such as Eric Tabarly, have hailed from Brittany, and yachting is a major tourist activity around all round the coast.
