Introduction

 

Bourbriac is a small town named after a 6th century Irish monk 'St Briac' who built a monastery around which the town developed.

 

 

Geography

 

Bourbriac is in the department Cotes d'Armor and covers 71.86 km².  The town is one of the 12 cantons of Guingamp and is located 10 km south of the Guingamp arrondissement.

 

 

Shopping

 

There is a market in the centre of Bourbriac every Tuesday morning.  Bourbriac also has a grocery store, two bakeries, a butchers, a tabac and a hardware store. 

 

For supermarkets, clothes shopping and larger chains visit Guingamp which is only 10 km away.

 

 

Key Facilities & Services

 

Bourbriac has two 'Ecoles Primaires et Maternelles' and one 'College'.

 

Bourbriac has one post office, two hair salon, several garages, a dentist, three  doctors practices, a vets, two banks, two pharmacies and a small library.   The town has a centrally located Gendarmerie and the nearest hospital is 10km away in Guingamp.

 

For entertainment there are two restaurants and a Cafe Bistros.

 

 

Tourism

 

Bourbriac has a gite complex on the outskirts of the town.  Further visitor accommodation is readily available in the surrounding area.

 

Bourbriac's nearest beach is 30km away at Binic.

 

The town holds regular one off events such as carnivals, toy fairs and Fest Noz throughout the year.

 

Worth a visit:

 

  • Visit the town church, L'eglise Saint Briac, the oldest part of which dates from the 12th century.  The church also contains the tomb of the Saint Briac.
  • Walk up to 'Le tumulus de Tanouedou' which is a bronze age

 

 

Sporting & Other Activities

 

The town has a sports hall where you can enjoy badminton, gymnastics, judo, tennis, table tennis, yoga, handball and football.

 

In the surrounding area there are some good horseriding centres as well as canoeing, golf and fishing facilities.  Hunting is also popular.
