Description:

Allaire is a commune in the Morbihan department in southern Brittany.  It is close to the border of the Pays de la Loire department.

Allaire is listed as a 'Ville Fleurie category 2' which is essentially reserved for towns that demonstrate a good attention to gardens and flowers.

Allaire one of the 4 communes of Redon and is located 6 km west of the Redon arrondissement and 55 km east of Vannes.  The town sits on the main road that connects these two large towns.

Allaire covers an area of 41.74 km² and has the River Arz at the towns north eastern border.

There is a market in the centre of Allaire every Friday morning.  Allaire also has a grocery store, two bakeries, a butchers, a tabac, a wine cave and a fishmongers.  For all other groceries there is a Champion supermarket in the town.

For clothes shopping and larger chains visit Redon which is only 6 km away.

Allaire has two 'Ecoles Primaires et Maternelles' and one 'College'.

The town has one central post office, three hair salons, several garages,  a veterinary practice, three banks, two dentists, numerous doctors, an optician, a pharmacy and a very active library. 

For entertainment there is a restaurant, a creperie and three cafes.

Allaire has a Hotel, a Chambre d’Hotes and four Gites.

Allaire has two well laid out walking trails which you can find at the Tourist Office - a longer walk of 12.5 km and a shorter stroll of 2.5 km.

The commune holds regular Lotos and a 'Fest Noz' each year.

Worth a visit:

• Le Manoir de Deil -  a 15th century mansion.  Free to look around.

• Le Chateau du Vau de Quip - a mansions with both 15th and 17th century parts.  Free to look around.

• Chapelle de Saint Eutrope - a beautiful gothic 16th century chapel in the heart of the village.  

• La Chapelle Sainte Barbe - a delightful chapel dating from 1484.

The surrounding area has some great mountain bike trail, including a 34.7 km route which is marked by blue signs.

Allaire has a number of sporting and leisure associations and facilitates including handball, football, badminton, basketball, judo, bowling, floristry, theatre, wine and dance.
