Description:
The castle is Europe's largest fortress. The oldest parts of it are from the 12th century.
There are two well planned circuits of the castle; one takes place within the forts three towers, each representing a different era whilst the other circuit explores the exterior of the fort. Free audio guides are available along with special children's audio guides. Escorted guided tours can also be booked.
Facilities include parking and toilets. The fort also has very good disabled access and has facilities for mobility, hearing and visually impaired visitors.
