What is Guide2Brittany?

Guide2Brittany is part of the Guide2TheWorld franchise network of websites, and one of nine currently operating in France so far. Launched in September 2010, Guide2Brittany aims to be the complete source of information for the Brittany Region. Designed specifically for English speakers who are planning a holiday, contemplating buying property or already residents in Brittany and one of its  four departments;

Guide2Brittany provides Property & Accommodation listings, News, Events , Regional information as well as Classified listings, a Business Directory and Blog.  Guide2Brittany is a community site and we encourage our visitors to take advantage of free membership so that they can participate in Blog discussions, post classifieds, events and more.

Why do I need Guide2Brittany?

Guide2Brittany is the one stop source of information for the Brittany region. From News to Events, Property to Holidays, Accommodation to Classifieds we've got it covered.  With articles stripped down to the bare facts, you can quickly grab the information you need without having to wade through pages and pages of text on lots of different internet sites.

 

Why not join our community and post your own content to the site or join in the blog discussions and interact with others who are passionate about Brittany and France!

How do I place an advert on Guide2Brittany?

There are two ways of placing an advert on Guide2Brittany.

 

Simply send us an email with brief details and we will contact you or give us a call on 00 33 (0)2 96 24 55 04.

 

You can also complete an advert online.  Login to the site and click on the "Advertise" button at the top of the page.  From here click on "My Listings" and the heading of the type of advert you wish to place.  Click on "Add New", fill in the details and click submit. 

 

The advert will need to be approved by Guide2Admin before going live, so if there is anything that you are unsure of, simply send us an email or give us a call.

How do I post an ad if I'm not a site member?

In order to post on Guide2Brittany you must first sign up to become a member of Guide2Brittany. Membership is free and allows you to fully participate in the Guide2Brittany community.

How do I respond to a posting?

On all general postings there is a link in the advert that says "Send Email". Unless the posting has a phone number in the text, this is the only way to contact that person. Simply fill in the form to send that person an email and we will send it through Guide2Brittany.  But don´t worry, they will receive it as if it came from you, and will be able to reply directly back to the email address you leave in the form.

How do I remove or change a posting?

Sign into your account, click on "My Listings" choose the section of the listing you wish to edit or remove. Once you've found the listing you wish to edit or remove click on the appropriate icon under the "Action" heading to the right of your listing title. This allows you to edit or delete the post.

How do I create a Property Portfolio?

While searching for a property on Guide2Brittany, you can save your favourites to your Property Portfolio.  To save a property to your portfolio, simply click on the listing to display the property details and then click "save to my portfolio at the bottom of the page.

 

To view your portfolio, go to the top of any Guide2Brittany page and click on the "Advertise" button.  Next click "My Portfolio" to show a list of you current saved properties.

 

You can also save your property search settings.  Set up your search parameters using the drop down boxes and click search.  Once the search is complete, click "Save to my portfolio” at the bottom of the results to save the search.

 

What is MyGuide2?

MyGuide2 is our social network for Brittany.  Site members can post discussion topics, photographs and videos to their profiles and groups.  It also gives you access to post items in other areas of the site, such as the blog, classified ads, and event listings.

 

MyGuide2 is arranged around Groups.  A group can be anything of interest, for example Guide2Brittany has an Introduce Yourself group, a recipes group, and a wines and spirits group plus many others.  Once you are a site member, you can join a group of interest and add your thoughts and photos to the discussions.

 

If there is not a group that interests you, than start a new one.  Please use the search box first to see if there is a suitable group for your post first though.  Once submitted, the group will need to be approved by the site admin before going live, but this will usually happen the same day.

How do I post a comment on a blog?

At the bottom of the Home Page, there is a MyGuide2 section.  Click on the Blogs tab and you will be taken to the list of active blogs.  Click on Read More or Comments to read the blog and add your comment.

What do I do if I feel the Discussion is inappropriate?

If you feel that a discussion is inappropriate or you have been abused on the site by other users then please contact us so that we can take appropriate action. Any Guide2Brittany member who we deem to have behaved inappropriately will be banned from using the site.

How do I post an event, classified ad or blog?

Sign in to the site and go to MyGuide2.  Click on the "Manage" button and you will be able to post to the blog, post a classified ad or an event, just click the relevant button.

How do I advertise with Guide2Brittany?

The internet is increasingly the first port of call for property hunters, holiday makers residents. Guide2Brittany is the one-stop source of information for this already large and growing audience. What if I want to post something but there is no category for it?

Guide2Brittany welcomes contributions of all kinds from property purchasers, home movers, holiday makers, advisers or anyone with valuable experience to offer our visitors. Within MyGuide2, it is possible to post on any subject you want.  If there is not a group for suitable for your topic, then start another group.  Please first use the search facility before starting another group.  Any new group will have to be approved by Guide2 Admin before going live.

What am I allowed to post on Guide2Brittany?

Guide2Brittany is a community site and values contributions from its visitors. We especially invite Guide2Brittany visitors to post information on upcoming events in Cotes d'Armor, Finistere, Ille et Vilaine and Morbihan, to post to the Blog and add comments to Blog posts from other users. We also invite our visitors to take advantage of free classified advertising on the site and for those with businesses to add their free listing to the directory. All the above can be posted directly by our visitors once they've become a member of Guide2Brittany.

 

Guide2Brittany also welcomes contributions of all kinds from property purchasers, home movers, holiday makers, advisers or anyone with valuable experience to offer our visitors. If you would like to contribute to other areas of the site please email the editor.

What am I not allowed to post on this site?

Please refrain from posting content that:

 

• Violates any international or national copyright, patent or intellectual property laws

• Is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, libellous, invasive or any information harmful to minors

• Is of a political nature and/or is critical of any government or municipal employee of the EU

• Is pornographic or contains any kind of nudity, sexually explicit or perverse content

• Is racist or discriminatory towards any race, religion, creed, nationality, gender or any other grouping of individuals

• Impersonates another person, which includes but is not limited to: Guide2Brittany.com employees, political figures or public figures

• Includes identifying information about another person without permission

• Is false or deceptive

• Infringes on any patent, copyright or intellectual property rights

• Can be classified as: spam, junk mail, chain letters, pyramid schemes, or any unsolicited commercial advertisement

• Is solicitation and is not in the designated area

• Includes links to other websites unless it is: (1) with expressed written permission of the Service (2) in the designated area for services

• That advertises the sale of anything illegal under the laws of the EU

• That contains software viruses

• That disrupts the normal flow with an excessive number of messages

• That uses misleading contact details to disguise the origin

 

What are Guide2Brittanys advertising terms & conditions

Obligations of the Customer

 

To pay the Price on immediate receipt of  invoice from Guide2Brittany and in any event no later than the date on which the Advertisement is to appear on the Web Site, as the case may be. If the Customer is booking advertising through the ecommerce system on the site then the advertisement must be paid before the advertisement is displayed on the site.

 

To indemnify Guide2Brittany against all losses, costs, claims, damages or other expenses that Guide2Brittany incurs as a result of breach by the Customer of any of these terms, or as a result of any third party claims which Guide2Brittany receives as a result of the Advertisements.

 

To acknowledge that Guide2Brittany retains full editorial control over all Advertisements and that Guide2Brittany will own all copyright in the Advertisements, save that Guide2Brittany shall not own any Customer Branding.

 

To provide all materials for the Advertisement (including, without limitation, GIF and JPEG files) in accordance with the procedures required by Guide2Brittany from time to time.

 

 

Obligations of Guide2Brittany

 

To use reasonable endeavors to ensure that the Advertisement features on the Web Site for the Duration, or, in the case of Newsletters, on the Release Date, and in each case in accordance with the Special Instructions.

 

To use reasonable endeavors to ensure that the Web Site is accessible to users of the world wide web for a minimum of 140 hours each week.

 

Guide2Brittany does not guarantee any levels of response to the Advertisement.

 

 

Rights of Guide2Brittany

 

The Customer warrants that the Advertisement is not Unacceptable. If Guide2Brittany at any time considers that the Advertisement is unacceptable Guide2Brittany may remove the Advertisement from the Web Site.  In this case Guide2Brittany will not refund any part of the Price to the Customer.

 

The Customer warrants that the Customer Branding will not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.

 

Guide2Brittany reserves the right to change the format of the Web Site as Guide2Brittany sees fit.

 

If Guide2Brittany decides to discontinue the Web Site then it will refund to the Customer that proportion of the Price that is equivalent to the proportion of the Duration left to run at the date of discontinuation.

 

Guide2Brittany reserves the right to terminate this contract with immediate effect by giving written notice of this to the Customer.  If Guide2Brittany decides to terminate the contract then it will refund to the Customer that proportion of the Price that is equivalent to the proportion of the Duration left to run at the date of discontinuation.

 

 

Cancellations

 

Cancellations received prior to the Advertisement or a series of Advertisements appearing on the Web Site will be liable for an administrative fee of €25.00.

 

No refund or credit will be given for cancellations received after an Advertisement has appeared or after a series of Advertisements has started to appear on the Web and the Customer shall remain liable for the Price in such circumstances.

 

 

Liability

 

Guide2Brittany shall not be liable to the Customer for any indirect or consequential losses or damage suffered by the Customer including (without limitation) any loss of profits, contracts, revenue, goodwill, business, savings or opportunity irrespective of whether Guide2Brittany knew or ought to have known of the possibility of that loss.

 

Guide2Brittany shall not be liable for any losses, damage or expenses (including, without limitation, any costs of finding replacement advertising space) suffered or incurred by the Customer as a result of the Web Site not being accessible to users of the world wide web for any period of time.

 

Nothing in these terms and conditions shall operate to limit the liability of either party for any death or personal injury caused by its negligence or that of its employees. In all other events the limit of Guide2Brittanys liability for any losses, expenses or damages incurred by the Customer in relation to this Agreement (whether in tort, contract or otherwise) shall be equal to the Price paid by the Customer to Guide2Brittany under this Agreement.

 

Guide2Brittany shall not be liable for any delay in or non-performance of its obligations under this Agreement to the extent that such delay or non-performance is due to any cause beyond its reasonable control including but not limited to the acts, defaults or omissions of suppliers or sub-contractors, failure of any telecommunications or power network, war, undeclared hostilities, terrorism, industrial action and acts of God.

 

Guide2Brittany will use reasonable efforts to comply with the Customer's requested start and end dates for display of the Advertisement but cannot warrant that these dates will be met.
